Our objective here is to visualize community needs by using GIS software to document the occurrences of trauma and other adverse events. Service providers as well as other policy makers and hospital administrators will use this data to make decisions about resource allocations. Ultimately, our goal is to improve community wellness and prevent trauma.
So far, the data mapping project is being used by the Trauma Informed Community Development team in order to find trauma hot spots in the City of Meadville.
Further will will be in system coordination so that data can be shared and coordinated easier among agencies. Professor Becky Dawson of Allegheny College is working with System of Care and Meadville Area Collaborative to move this ambitious project forward.
